Techmer Lehvoss Compounds Names New Managing Director

Techmer Lehvoss Compounds (TLC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Tom Drye to Managing Director. Formed as a joint venture by long-time industry leaders Techmer PM (TPM) in the USA and Lehmann & Voss (LuV) in Germany, TLC has vast resources to draw from. “We hold a unique business position. For a young company, we have tremendous technology and resources that have allowed us to step in as an immediate impact player in the competitive custom- compounding market. Our core focus will always be on using advanced technology to develop high-end, value-added, engineering plastic compounds,” said Mr. Drye.

"Tom Drye has been our Director of Sales and Marketing since August of 2005, shortly after TLC was formed,” said John Manuck, TPM President and CEO. "Tom's contributions have been absolutely vital to the company’s rapid development. TLC is now prepared to take the next strategic step in bringing new technologies to custom-engineered plastic compounds." As Managing Director, Mr. Drye will continue to lead TLC’s sales and marketing efforts but also take responsibility for TLC's strategic direction.

His promotion will also mean a change in the strategic orientation of TLC. Drye and his team will sharpen the profile and intensify the objective as a high-end niche player and problem solver in thermoplastic compounds. TLC’s German partner, Lehmann and Voss, just celebrated its 25th anniversary under the LUVOCOM® brand-name, and many customers who attended the celebration in Hamburg confirmed the leading role of LUVOCOM® in the areas of high-temperature, carbon-reinforced, and tribologically modified high-end compounds. They were quoted as saying, “For us, LUVOCOM® is to the compounds arena as what Porsche is to the car industry.” The team at TLC is proud and happy to provide that same outstanding capability to their American customer base supported by their German colleagues.

Techmer PM has its own proud and successful history as a leading masterbatch additive and color concentrate producer with six plants in North America. Tom Drye states, “TLC went from birth to full stride almost simultaneously because of the close support afforded by TPM and LuV. Many young companies speak of global reach and supply chain; at TLC our infrastructure and execution back up that statement.”

With German engineering and American innovation, TLC is prepared to move to the next level in its growth cycle. This appointment is one indication of that commitment to the business and customer base.

Mr. Drye joined TLC, based in Clinton, Tenn., after a career spanning more than 20 years with the LNP division of GE Plastics (now Sabic Innovative Plastics, a unit of Saudi Basic Industries Corp.). At then GE Plastics he acquired a broad range of experience in research and development, quality assurance, manufacturing, and technical sales. He has a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters in Engineering at University of Massachusetts. Tom and his wife, Dawn, recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and have two teenage children.

TLC is a producer of high-performance engineering compounds for the plastics industry. The company specializes in custom-engineered thermoplastic compounds including Luvotech™, Plaslube®, and Electrafil® branded products. As a joint venture partner with Europe’s premier custom compounder, Lehmann and Voss, they also bring a local supply of the LUVOCOM® High- Performance Engineering Thermoplastic compounds. Turn to TLC when innovative design, superior service, and the highest quality are essential.
